Honni van Rijswijk is a lawyer, academic and fiction writer. Her short stories have been a finalist in the Zoetrope Short Story Contest and longlisted in the Commonwealth Short Story Prize, and she has been published in the literary journal Southerly. She is the recipient of a Varuna Writing Fellowship, and her short story “The Magpie Season” was shortlisted in the 2025 Hope Prize and is forthcoming in an anthology published by Simon & Schuster. Her debut novel, BREEDER (Blackstone Publishing, 2022), was a finalist in the Lambda Literary Awards (2022). She is represented by Julia Kenny at DCL Agency (literary) and Addison Duffy at UTA (film/TV). She holds a BA/LLB (Hons) from the University of Sydney, an LLM from Trinity College Dublin and a PhD from the University of Washington. Honni is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law, University of Technology Sydney, where her research centres on law and literature. She lives in Sydney with her partner and child.
